Moving forward
To the editor:
Moving forward, what exactly does that mean? So many possibilities “moving forward” could be, thanks to the uniqueness of the human condition. But in the political realm, a variety of persons must come up with a consensus to define moving forward to allow good progress to take place in our society. So as defined in the Microsoft Word dictionary, moving: in a state of movement. Forward: to or toward what is ahead in space or time. As defined by a group of Cape Coral residents who discussed the definition, moving: in constant momentum, forward: state of motion that is in the best interest for that in motion.
Yes, some can take that our council has currently been “moving forward” but are we moving forward with good progress? The answer is no. I agree that we must keep an eye on our past so we are not doomed to repeat our mistakes but we also have to keep an eye on our future. We cannot continue staying in neutral for too long, as we have, looking at the past not thinking of what we are going to do. How can we continue looking in our past without creating a clear plan for our future? There has been no clear plan.
Every election that has come around I have had my say in my vote. I voted for you folks to speak for me. But as some have chased away residents, scorned public employees creating a hostile environment for these good servants of our community, taken missteps in handling the UEP, and not using the common sense they claim they have to lead our city to the future, I will be a growing voice in a mass of voices that will unite to make sure those that our accountable be held to that accountability.
