Mayor may be right on his quest for an audit

To the editor:

After listening to the report of citizen Sal Grosso at the recent meeting of our Cape Coral’s Financial Advisory Committee meeting which was broadcast over our governmental channel 98 on March 14, of this year, I am most certainly glad that I apologized to Mayor Sullivan for accusing him of “acting like a bull in a china shop” in his continued insistence of further auditing over the water and sewer debacle our city finds itself so deeply enmeshed in today.

Mr. Grosso’s report most certainly pointed out such wide discrepancies in the various projects, that an overwhelming possibility of fraud throughout the entire project was a distinct possibility.

Can we be made whole once again financially with a more deep-seated auditing of this entire affair? I really do not know, but, if we do not pursue further investigation, we will never know. It’s a crap shoot and I can now readily see Mayor Sullivan’s point and can understand why there are many among our past administrators who would like to see this whole business swept under a rug like a dirty piece of trash. Good, bad or indifferent? I cannot say, but, I trust our mayor, like his administration, so, I’ll ride with whatever he deems as what is good for our city.

Good luck to you John Sullivan.
