Immigration horse is well out of the barn

To the editor:

Isn’t it interesting how, when you start with the wrong premise, the next of your thoughts seem to follow suit?

And no, ma’am, try as they might, Arizona will not close the border – it can’t be done. Even the extra helicopters are a good show, but they won’t make a significant difference.

I hear that we now have some 20,000 border patrol agents. They are not able to get it done, so why should we expect a like number of untrained National Guardsmen to do so (even if we could find enough of them.)

We had had these manpower problems since 2001, when Rumsfeld closed down the Pentagon, forcing us to rely on reservists for our national defense needs.

The naive out there keep hollering to close the barn door, well folks, the horse is already gone. And who is going to identify those 12 million horses, unless we offer them some incentive to step up? Congress would be wise to do so, and soon.

Incidentally, I have been taking Dick Kalfus to task for years, for his always backing the wrong horse, and now, even his own cohorts are doing the same (except for the wrong reason).

I hold no truck for Charlie Crist (who has done a few things right), but I can’t take pantywaist Rubio. Those guys are all trying to avoid a split in the Republican vote for senator which could give Democrat meeks a victory.
