Better times
To the editor:
I remember when, “Lawlessness, was lawlessness.” When we could have our doors unlocked. When we could leave our cars in our driveway, unlocked, without any fear of losing it. When there was respect for teachers, and elders, police and parents.
I remember when we didn’t need bars on our windows, when we were taught patriotism and there weren’t people advocating the removal of “In God We Trust” from our currency.
So, what happened, how did we regress and evolve into a society without morals, or meaning and transform goodness and Godliness into one of shame and sadness?
America was at its greatest before we had the A.C.L.U., before earmarks littered every legislative decision, before elected officials said “we make closed door deals because that’s the way we do business in Washington” causing a lack of confidence and respect in people we previously admired.
It is time to wake up and realize that we are off the track, those in Washington are setting the wrong example, the Supreme court needs some refresher courses, and certainly we need to respect again the teachings of the Bible.
That would be progress.
