To the editor:

My best wishes for good health to Peter Hare (Breeze, May 8).

So sorry about your political myopia since the Truman era (some of us go even further back)

The world, especially the Europeans, do not consider us as weak. They appreciate our candor and honesty. Check with the Nobel Committee, as they are closer to that than us.

The “American system” is not being dismantled; it is merely being re-regulated as in the past (when things worked without so much greed and mis-management).

This administration inherited a huge debt, and is now being forced to add to it, in order to cure this Great Recession (fastest and surest way to do so).

The government is not controlling the health or auto industries. Private enterprise is still at the wheel. Loans do not always result in control. (Consumers need more protection than we will likely ever see).

If Graham’s presence threatened the Constitution, then we needed to do otherwise.

Do you have a solution to border control? No one seems to – and no one is coming up with the 9,000 troops necessary to man 2,000 miles of border (which would still be ineffective). We would all like to hear your resolution to this. The Democrats did not “seize” power – it was logically asked for and overwhelmingly granted.

Just what constitutional guarantees do you feel are threatened? The only threats I see are from the Supreme Court – not yet an Obama responsibility. If, however, you have misinterpretations, then clarification can be puzzling.

And if you are depending on the Tea baggers and Airhead Palin to straighten anything out, then you are surely in big trouble.

For 150 years, Republicans have not been known for less corruption than anybody. (The robber barons, now making a comeback, come to mind)

Most importantly, if this administration doesn’t cure this economic debacle, then there won’t be any grandchildren to hope and pray for.
