Rock and a hard place

As residents we are now facing two choices. One is by the water department adding 15 percent to each water bill for the next three years. Can you imagine 45 percent of an average of $75 per month? That would be $11.25 added the first year. $12.94 the second year. $14.88 the third year. That is $39.07added to a $75.00 bill, $114.07 average per month, per user until the plant is paid for. Will it stop then? Have you ever known the city to stop charging anyone for something once they found that person could pay it? And these are people who have already paid for their duel water system.
It doesn’t matter how slow you ease something in on someone, it still hurts. Will they get their money back when and if north Cape Coral gets the service from this plant? Be real! The other option is to charge north Cape Coral homeowners for the service, even though they don’t have it, and don’t even know when or if they will get it! How fair is that? Think of it this way, you must pay for a buffalo steak at a particular restaurant in California. Then, when and if you get there several years later, and if the restaurant is open, they will give you credit for what you paid. I don’t think I like those odds. These are the two choices being presented to our “brilliant” city leaders. In their wisdom several years ago they chose to build this plant and because of the bursting of the housing bubble, residents are now going to be forced to pay for “their mistake.”
By the way Mr. Mayor, why are our water bills being sent to Tampa? If the employment is low here, why can’t we hire our own local people to handle these bills?
