Republicans need to get it together

To the editor:

Many years ago, in the dim distant past, I was the Lee County Republican State Committeeman, and I was shocked by our brain-dead Republican leaders,. We are lacking in charismatic, forceful leadership, unless you consider Sarah Palin the new Ronald Reagan.

Our recent defeat in the 2008 election was self inflicted, due to the big-spending Republican Congress under the Bush administration. So today, we need a rebirth of a new Conservative Republican Party.

We face many changes, we must find conservative candidates for every office at every level of government. Fortunately, the Democrats in Washington, seem to have offended the majority of voters. As the impact of the health care plan comes into effect, it will offend even more.

Another major problem is the “Tea Party Party.” The polls continue to show that they outdraw the Republicans in most elections. With their staunch conservative philosophy we will have to make every effort to organize with them because I believe that combination will be unbeatable. if we enter rival candidates we guarantee a Democratic victory. It is beneficial to both our parties to select one good candidate and elect that person.

The Republicans have to put aside their pettiness and vindictiveness and organize a rebirth for the salvation of the party and most importantly of the country.

As someone once said Obama sounds like a tropical disease and may have the same effect if it continues unabated.
