Hiring city manager a critical task ahead
To the editor:
Cape Coral is in serious, long-term financial difficulties. What we really need is a “superman” city manager. As I understand it, ex-mayor Feichthaler is contemplating applying for the open position and I warn the council they must not be influenced by his previous position. If you remember that election, he was not elected, instead his opponent was defeated.
He had an undistinguished mayoral tenure, which he resigned to run for County Commission, against a long- serving, and respected Republican in a Republican county. To me this shows a total lack of judgment and political insight.
Now he seems to be grasping at political straws to regain his position at the public trough. The council must hire a professional search organization to find that “superman” with that proper academic credentials, financial acumen, and work experience to save our city.
Times are going to be tough for the next few years and irresponsible council practices could destroy us.
We need a guiding hand as city manager, a hand of genius.
