Save money, stay local for city manager search
To the editor:
I hope the new Mayor Sullivan won’t quickly forget his running platform to cut spending in our city, and will steer clear of his tendency to go national in a search for a new city manager. We have very qualified candidates right under our noses.
Eric Feichthaler – a four-generation resident – is very familiar with the inner workings of our city structure and daily operations. As our former mayor, his strong sense of professionalism and shared philosophy with old as well as new council members helped keep the focus on service to residents and businesses at a low cost. He has shown he can work well with others and his certification as a mediator serves to prove that. Like Mr. Sullivan, he is for lean government. Mr. Feichthaler also stated he does not want to leave his city and doesn’t consider this a “stepping stone.” Should Carl Schwing decide to throw his hat in the ring, we will have two very qualified candidates with no need to spend thousands of dollars looking elsewhere. These gentlemen will need no time getting up to speed. I urge council to consider this.
