Just say no to smoking

1 min read

To the editor:

Everybody needs to stop smoking! It affects your life, as well as the people you come in contact with. Think before you put that nasty habit back in your mouth, because smoking can cause cancer along with other diseases.

Teenage smoking usually starts around 16 years of age. Twenty percent of teens smoke not knowing that it is addictive and leads to disease; 5.4 million deaths occur each year just by smoking and 3,000 deaths occur just from second-hand smoking. I am a 16- year-old, as well as a victim of second- hand smoking. One study suggests that 85-90 percent of smokers who smoke four or more cigarettes become regular smokers. Only about 30 percent of people who try to quit smoking remain tobacco free for two days because of rapid growing of withdrawal symptoms.

One solution could be, raising the price in cigarettes. Another could be selling nicotine free cigarettes.
