Road Ahead on the march?
To the editor:
While not surprising, it should be disturbing to all Cape Coral residents that the Road Ahead group has an uncompleted agenda to take total control of this city.
Although they failed to gain control of the council with six assured seats, the Road Ahead group does control four council votes. Do you doubt for a minute that part of their plan was to place members of their group into management positions within the city? Before they hold their first voting council meeting, leaders Councilmember Brandt and Mayor Sullivan are floating the idea of Road Ahead members becoming a major part of the new city administration
First comes Gary King, one of the major leaders of Road Ahead, as a replacement for the city manager position. Who is this Gary King? He says he has solutions and is an experienced leader. Does the mayor owe something to the man who certainly was a major force of his election?
Is the city finance director next? Who in the Road Ahead group will be brought forward for that position? Are there more to come, such as the city attorney or Public Works director?
Is part of their plan to make it impossible for some remaining members of council to continue to serve and if so, who do you think they would appoint? Will they appoint Road Ahead members? Are some of the Road Ahead members those who for years disturbed city council members with their ramble during public input? Are these the people we honestly want to have power in this city?
Can we assume they had a plan, to develop their agenda which include replacement of paid staff with their own members? I believe they did have a solid agenda for a complete take over with these usually uninformed people. They are the exact same people that attack the truth and if you challenge them they attack you.
Vicious perhaps, but is this Chicago Politics? Are some of these Road Ahead folks influenced by Chicago Politics? To the victor belongs the spoils, but is this what we want in Cape Coral? To whom are the mayor and the new council member beholden to? There can be little doubt it is the Road Ahead group.
There were 18 announced original members of this Road Ahead group. Their names were never totally publically disclosed.
Will there be a nasty response to this letter?
