Feichthaler best choice for manager
To the editor:
A new era of government is now upon us in Cape Coral. With a newly elected mayor, three new council members, and the resignation of the city manager, our city is in the midst of a dynamic transition. This council is now faced with the task of working to reverse the unprecedented spending and tax hike that occurred this year. The first priority this council must tackle is filling Mr. Stewart’s vacated position. Although multiple options present themselves on how to go about this, I would like to make a recommendation that is financially, administratively, and logically in the best interest of Cape Coral.
Former Mayor Eric Feichthaler shares this council’s agenda of providing the residents and businesses of the city the highest level of service and prosperity in the most fiscally responsible manner. His past experience as mayor provides him with an intimate knowledge of the city manager’s role, city structure, daily operations, and city personnel; thus eliminating the learning curve a new manager would have to endure. It would save the city precious time and literally tens of thousands of dollars by hiring Mr. Feichthaler, rather than conducting a nationwide search to fill the position. As a long-time resident and past mayor, Mr. Feichthaler would be able to hit the ground running and immediately begin working for you on the numerous issues facing Cape Coral. Finally, as an attorney Mr. Feichthaler’s ability to write, decipher, and negotiate contracts will prove to be a priceless asset that could save us millions of dollars.
This city is now at a crossroad and the results of the recent election spoke volumes on the citizen’s confidence of their city’s government. Mr. Feichthaler has been strongly supported by Cape Coral voters and has proven himself as a leader with the ability to bring people together, both in government and the community. I strongly urge this Council to consider Eric Feichthaler for Cape Coral City Manager.
