To the editor:

If you still have not made up your mind on who to vote for, please consider the following: Only four candidates signed the pledge to the citizens of Cape Coral. They are; John Sullivan, Jim Martin, John Cataldi and Chris Chulakes-Leetz. That pledge says that if elected, those four candidates pledge to: “Reform The City Administration by making positive changes in the direction of the city”; “Reduce Spending and avoid all unwarranted, unfair, and harmful increases in taxes, fees and assessments”; “Restore Public Trust by Requiring the retention of and legally permitted access to all public records to enable clarification of the ethics of public officials and other relevant matters and entities”; “Make Cape Coral truly commercial development friendly by developing a new economic plan to attract and retain businesses that benefit the city and public interests; streamline the permitting process; and listen to input, with an open mind, to address the needs of small businesses creating jobs and diversifying the tax base to relieve the tax burden on the homeowners.”; “Develop a comprehensive plan/vision for Cape Coral at build out. By listening to all sectors of the city, the Council should develop a roadmap for reaching our ultimate vision. All actions should contribute to the desired goal.”; and finally they pledge to “Complete the UEP/FEP forensic audit. Conduct, unfettered, the forensic and operations audits of the UEP/FEP”.

I see those as very positive goals which will benefit the people of our city. Remember the names of the four candidates who signed that pledge. They are: John Sullivan, Jim Martin, John Cataldi and Chris Chulakes-Leetz. Three others who signed it are Pete Brandt, Bill Deile and Newt Gingrich, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives.
