Dissenting voice deserves praise

To the editor:

Regarding Robert E. Dudley’s letter of Oct. 24, to the Cape Coral Daily Breeze chastising mayoral candidate John Sullivan for not rubber stamping the Utilities Expansion Committee’s edicts in mostly a 7 to 1 vote, Mr. Dudley stated he expected many of the votes to be unanimous. Did I read that right? In other words, it’s either Mr. Dudley’s way or the highway? As the dissenting voice, thank you mayoral candidate John Sullivan for sticking to your guns as you were proven right. To proceed with an immediate full blown S.W 6 and 7 construction project at this time puts at risk virtually thousands of property owners in Cape Coral.

In my opinion people must be government’s first consideration, not some grandiose project that belongs in a future economy. John Sullivan continually digs for facts to the benefit of all Cape Coral voters and, most important, he has the guts to stand up for what he believes is right.

As a former five-term mayor of Ocean Ridge, Florida and former two-term chairman of the South Palm Beach County Counsel of Governments (12 members including Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, and Delray Beach) I give my whole-hearted support to the big four: John Sullivan for mayor; Jim Martin District 1; Chris Chulakes-Leetz District 4; and John Cataldi Jr. District 6. Let’s get involved. Pass the good word for good government.
