No vote here for Sullivan
To the editor:
Sullivan is not the man for Cape mayor.
Our form of government demands that the mayor have the ability to do many things. Among these, and certainly not the least important, is the necessity to work with city employees earning both their respect and their trust. The city manager, the department heads, and the troops on the ground all need to have the feeling that the mayor and the council members are all part of a team with everyone on the same page and working for the betterment of Cape Coral.
Mr. Sullivan has shown himself to be a divider. He has promoted the “us against them” philosophy, pitting the taxpayers against the council and the council against the city staff, and, if elected, will demoralize everyone.
As a 25-year resident of Cape Coral, I believe I can say with surety that I have observed the staff, and interacted with the workers and many of the department heads, and it is my opinion that this city is fortunate to have a superior level of expertise at all levels. Undermining the management and the employees is not healthy for the city, it will produce an out of control disaster, and must be avoided. Sullivan should not be mayor.
