Burch for mayor
To the editor:
I am writing in support of Jim Burch for Mayor of Cape Coral. I am supporting him because he clearly is the best person for the job. He has actual business experience, and has had to make a payroll. His experience on Council and as mayor has shown him to be able to deal with a wide variety of situations and personalities, and arrive at solutions that work for the best of Cape Coral. He is not a one-issue candidate, and approaches problems with a positive attitude, rather than always looking on the dark side of everything.
Jim serves on a wide variety of boards and committees with other community leaders. It was through these associations that Jim was instrumental in moving forward with the widening of Pine Island Road. This is important, not just for the economic development possibilities, but as a health and safety issue, since this road in a bottleneck for hurricane evacuations. Jim was also able to close the deal with Avatar to remove their restrictions on the development of significant areas of Cape Coral. Several previous nayors had tried and failed Jim succeeded!
I could state all the things about Jim’s opponent that I believe make him unsuitable for the position, but others can do that. I wish to remain positive in my support of Mayor Burch.
