Elect candidates who have the time to serve

To the editor:

Does the city of Cape Coral need a “full-time mayor” and “more full-time city council representatives?” Is part-time good enough? Full-time versus part-time. The choice is ours in the upcoming election on Nov. 3, and early election the prior week.

I believe we need full-time representation. We need a mayor and city council representatives who can and will devote 100 percent of their time, working for us. Time is of the essence. Being full-time gives them the opportunity to research every topic and problem, rather that listening only to the city manager and staff. Every decision made by the mayor and council effects each and every one of us, therefore homework and research are essential.

On Nov. 3, or the prior week, we have the privilege of electing a mayor and three council representatives:

For mayor: John Sullivan, “retired” and long-time community activist.

Jim Burch (incumbent mayor,) “surveyor”

District I: Jim Martin, “retired.”

Kenneth (Marty) McClain “contractor/consultant”

District 4: Chris Chulakes-Leetz, “Putting career on hold”

Dolores Bertolini, (incumbent)

Distrait 6: John F. Cataldi Jr. “retired”

Kevin McGrail,l “technician-works the night shift at hospital in Naples.”

I’m sure all of the above mentioned candidates are very intelligent, however, as you can see not all of them can devote 100 percent of their time serving us, since they have other jobs.

When I moved to Cape Coral, I chose a full-time doctor. I also chose a full-time dentist and a full-time optometrist along with a full-time insurance agent and financial advisor.

On Nov. 3, or the prior week, I will cast my votes as follows: for mayor of Cape Coral, John Sullivan; District 1-Jim Martin; District 4 -Chris Chulakes-Leetz; District 6 – John Cataldi, Jr.

Vote for full-time representation.
