If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen
To the editor:
Pete Brandt, our council member from District 2, wrote a letter to the editor on Saturday, Sept. 12, complaining about the news media making political endorsement, observations and offering opinions of matters important to voters in Cape Coral.
Brandt is disturbed with the press editorials and comments regarding The Road Ahead contract, The Minute Men being called “special interest.”
I think the news media has an obligation to report everything newsworthy and their right to do so is guaranteed in our Constitution. The appearance of candidate for council and current council members answering only to a few huddled in a smoky backroom is cause for concern. This is not the way local, state and federal politics is designed to work.
Pointing out only four out of 12 candidates signed the Road Ahead contract, all four candidates being either Road Ahead or Minute Men members, is a legitimate, newsworthy story and a cause for concern. Pete, if the truth hurts, put a Band Aid on it, preferably across your mouth.
