Reject ‘Road Ahead’ contract candidates

To the editor:

As a 21-plus year, full-time resident and utility rate payer for those years, I can honestly say I have never been more embarrassed for the City of Cape Coral than I have been during this past year and more specifically during these past few months.

If you attended or watched city council meetings you have seen the antics of the anarchists, the revolutionaries and the conveyors of lies, hate and mistrust. The Aug. 31, city council meeting was a typical display of the mob rule mentality that uses intimidation and disruption over the legally elected governmental body which is charged with making public policy for the benefit of the majority. City council acquiesced that evening in favor of the minority. As a result the majority of residents, aka the rate payers, will see their average monthly water and sewer utility bill increase from “$81.97 per month to $103.90 per month starting Oct. 1.” Additional increases over the next five years will almost double our current rates from “$81.97 per month to $158.” Not to mention that many like me, who have been paying rates all these years, have paid an equivalent (or more) to the proposed assessment in rates, after having paid our own assessments.

What we have been witnessing is not an accident or the spontaneity of a grass roots effort coming together for another vote on the UEP for SW 6-7. On the contrary this was an orchestrated and conducted effort by a select few, comprised of John Sullivan (ccminutemen.com) and Gary King (a principle architect of the Road Head Gang of “18 people”. Think of it, 18 people wanting total and absolute control over the duly elected body who is charged to represent the needs of the 160,000 residents of Cape Coral.

I have provided a link to the Cape Coral “minnymen” for my fellow citizens and voters to visit. Mayoral candidate John Sullivan is the sole proprietor of the CC minutemen, Inc., a not for profit corporation listed in the State of Florida. What you’ll be reading are his rants, total fabrication and distortions of historical fact which he published on the internet in January 2007. This was approximately 18 months after his arrival to Cape Coral. Personally I found this Web page a terrible affront to our Representative/ Democracy form of government. His direct assault and suggested pictorial assaults on the city and our form of government could only happen in this country where those “freedoms” have been guaranteed with the sacrifice and blood of our fighting men and women. Only here in our country is this sort of craziness permitted, which I view as being akin to spitting on our flag. And yet this person has the nerve to ask for your vote on Sept. 15 in his quest to sit with the elected body and our representative form of government that he is so quick to insult, conspire against and advocate overthrowing. History has seen enough of this type throughout the world.

On Aug. 15 a fringe “organization” festered in Cape Coral. They proclaimed to have written a “Contract with Cape Coral.” It is not. It is a contract with; “We, the people of the Road Ahead” as stated in the opening sentence and not representative of the people of the City of Cape Coral. Candidates Sullivan, Martin, Leetz and Cataldi in addition to the two seated Council members Brandt and Deile have bought into this subversion. A chief architect of this fanatical faction “of 18” is Gary King. Sullivan claims he and others have a hand in the writing of this trash. This is nothing more than the fostering of a group of puppets, running for office, which is predisposed to legislating without having the benefit of information, deliberation, or individual thought process. Most importantly, the group has made up its group mind in the absence of any public input. These shenanigans, devised by rascals, are in direct conflict of what our Representative/Democracy is supposed to be about. Personally, I am far more interested in the Oath of Office as being the only contract with the Citizens of Cape Coral, the State of Florida and the Federal Government.

I will not be voting for any candidate who has signed the contract with the Gang. These people should be ashamed of their attempt to divert the governmental process. I ask the voters to beware of the false prophets who continue to constantly condemn our city. They think only they, the more recent arrivals, have all of the answers.
