Have some consideration for those who have paid their share

To the Mayor and Council Members:

Now that you have been sympathetic to some in the City and shown your utter disdain for those citizens in the city that have already paid their dues without a choice or complaint by voting against the water and sewer project once again, what will become of the citizens who have been excused from their responsibility to the rest of us?

Will they be simply allowed to hook up to the system a few years down the road for free after the rest of us have already paid for the expansion?

Why can’t there be a special assessment for these people so that they, too, can share in this expense that was created for their benefit, not ours?

Also, where is your sympathy for the citizens that will be subject to the 85 percent increase in the mill rate?

Why do you feel that we can all afford the higher taxes but feel empathy for those who do not want to pay for the utilities?

Why can’t you bite the bullet and seriously cut spending and stop worrying about the “morale” of the city employees? The rest of us are all hurting in these times, too.

Why won’t you let those families that use the parks and playing fields pay a little extra for their use instead of making the rest of us pay for something we do not use? My morale is not really great right now either but you obviously only care about a select group

of city residents and not all of us as a whole.

I would really appreciate an answer to these questions from one or more of you.
