To the editor:

Why is there no comparison of millage rates for cities throughout Florida to show how much the people are getting shortchanged in Cape Coral? IMHO – Here is what I found today…

Here is a comparison of millage rates for 2009 for some prominent cities throughout Florida. Most of these cities have at least 150,000 persons. These figures were current as of 8-24-2009.

Tampa -5.73

Ft Myers Beach – 0.86 ( other charges are involved)

Miami Beach – 5.91

Ft Lauderdale – 4.11

Orlando – 5.65

Clearwater – 5.42

Tallahassee – 3.22

Now these are all pretty successful cities that have good public services and a quality of life at least equal to the Cape. Why can they hold in their expenses and the Cape cannot?
