Some positive news
To the editor:
Most of the candidates for elective office this year are demanding change, preaching everything negative.
There are many positive things that are happening in Cape Coral. We should be proud of our city even in these difficult changing times.
Are the citizens aware of the pending new Veterans Cape Coral VA outpatient Clinic? Are the citizens aware of the 202,000 veterans in southwest Florida? This new clinic will be over 200,000 square feet; will be a state- of- the- art primary and specialty care center offering mental health, diagnostic radiology and laboratory services. The services offered are many and not limited to cardiology, urology, orthopedics, minor surgery and advanced imaging.
The land has been purchased, the final design phase was completed in May 2009 and it is tentatively expected to award the construction contract this coming fall. It is believed that the facility will open sometime in 2011.
It will require employment of people to build this clinic, and many more employees to manage this 24-hour clinic. This clinic will draw from a wide statewide area; it will bring people to Cape Coral. There will be a desire for people to come to Cape Coral and it will put the city on the map.
Thanks to the dedicated efforts and vision of Councilmember Dolores Bertolini, Congressman Connie Mack and former County Commissioner Andy Coy their vision for addressing the needs of our veterans will come to birth in a little over a year. This is a major achievement for our city, one which every citizen should welcome and be proud. Our veterans deserve our compassion, respect and thanks for the service to this nation and we need to thank those who were responsibility for bringing this needed clinic to life.
We are a city with a large population of citizens who are veterans, who have family and friends who are veterans and they should all remember Dolores Bertolini and Connie Mack when they go to the voting booth.
Let’s start thinking of the good and stop tearing down those who serve our city and our nation.
