Pay cuts before service cuts
To the editor:
It simply amazes me, that during these hard times that the mayor and council’s only answer to the budget is what we the taxpayers must give up. We are going to have less service, give up events and pay to play sports. Never do they mention staff reduction or salary cuts as a solution. When your house has a budget crisis, do you go to your boss and say I need a raise, no you make cuts. The city staff has never offered to take a pay cut. They should start at the top and maybe the unions will come on board.
I can’t understand why the city’s administration never comes to that conclusion. This city needs to direct the city manager that this is the budget, now make it work. You can count on it we will face rate and millage increases and cuts in service and the city staff will face no reductions.
