To the editor:

What’s wrong with Cape Coral’s city council? Didn’t we elect every one of them to be our public servants, and act in our behalf?

Would you say that most of them are pretending to be kings and queens, and we are their servants? Are most of them communicating with us? Or to us? We get three minutes of citizens input; they get all the time in the world to cut us to shreds. What’s right about that?

Why is it that “the same four” are usually the shredders? Is there an anger problem? A taxpayer problem? An ego problem? Do they really give a hoot about our concerns?

Does the title of city council representative or mayor give them the right to humble and intimidate residents? After all, the residents are concerned. They have given solutions and constructive criticism. Shame on us for asking questions, giving possible solutions, and being concerned!

Hope, in the form of elections, is right around the corner. Most candidates, so far, must have the same coffee mug that used to sit in my insurance office. It reads “Danger – mouth operates faster than brain.”
