Elimination of events another spiral downward for Cape Coral
To the editor:
Mr. Quaintance and the city have their approach backwards. If you run a business you do not eliminate the products that keep your customers coming back. Yet this is exactly the approach they are speaking about. This approach is a “death spiral” for the Cape. By eliminating events you reduce the amount of people coming into town and spending money both at the event and over the long run. The expenditures provide tax dollars that will only shrink and or disappear should the special events be eliminated. Cape residents will flee to Fort Myers or other cities that continue to hold the events. The budget deficit will get worse not better by eliminating these events. Let’s run our city as we would a business!
