Solutions needed
To the editor:
Yes, there was a UEP victory but with no solutions.
Stopping the UEP madness at this time of global depression/recession makes economic sense for all the residents of Cape Coral.
Now all the residents, not just those “ratepayers,” of which I am one, need to pay for our current and past elected officials’ blunders.
The battle cry “We paid ours, You pay yours” carried great validity during boomin economic times, but that is not the case now as Cape Coral endures an economic collapse that has never been experienced in its history.
Our financial city staff wizards and elected officials need to find a way to spread the true costs incurred by stopping the UEP on every man, woman and child in this city, equitably.
We, as a city, have made a big mistake.
We, as a city, will pay for this mistake and move on towards better economic times.
Division serves impotence and exacerbates the problems.
If the UEP had continued this week, soon more economic hardship would befall more residents.
Soon, we would have more empty foreclosure tainted residences.
Soon we would have even lower property values.
Soon, all of us that are left, will pay higher property taxes and fees to make up for those that “skipped out”
Soon, all of us that are left, will pay ever-increasing water/sewer/irrigation bills to make up for those that “skipped out” and never paid their delinquent bills and interest.
Soon, all of us that are left, will pay for all those UEP assessments and fees to make up for those that “skipped out” and vacated their worthless properties.
Soon, all of us that are left, will pay much higher electric bills and public service taxes/fees to make up for all those that “skipped out” and never paid their delinquent bills
Soon, all of us that are left, will pay much more to live here because there will be less of us to pay for the ever-increasing cost of our gold-plated government.
It would make economic sense to grow the number of Cape Coral wallets, not shrink their numbers.
Hello! We are in a depression of multiple types….The City’s mentality was “Built It They Will Come” We will worry how to pay for it, later…..Well it’s built! The bills are due! They didn’t come! In fact they’re leaving!
One colossal mess for those that stay behind and will pay dearly for many years.
Our local government blanked up! All residents need to just pay more, just stop the UEP insanity, lick our wounds and move forward on utilities later.
If we insist on decimating more residents, the price to us all will be even more!
Look in the mirror. We all are part of the solution.
Maybe Cape Coma’s Pair-A- Dice can become once again a Paradise!
Think about Ii!
