Who’s pushing the UEP?

A recent meeting showed Cape Coral leaders unwilling to hear from the citizens affected by the new utility expansion project. Since it has become clear that the impetus to expand the project is not only not being requested by the people it purports to serve, it must be asked as to why the pressure to move it along. If the residents don’t want it, who are city leaders responding to and who should they respond to? Is someone making money and profiting from this venture? It is especially clear that in this time of economic hardship that the costs of this project will be devastating to many citizens and taxpayers and again so why the pressure to move now?
One observation made was that if SW 6/7 doesn’t come on board, previous groups will be hit by higher water bills. Each incoming group helps defray the expenses and costs of the preceding group. Sound familiar? Shades of Bernie Madoff! Is this a Ponzi scheme? Is this just as illegal as Madoff? Should someone go to jail? Good questions to be asked and answered. Also the question to be answered is if many are forced to abandon properties, what cost will be to the rest of the citizens still in Cape Coral? Sometimes, and hopefully now, cooler and wiser heads will prevail!
