Large-parcel assessments just plain thievery
To the editor:
After reading the letters of Roland Barron and Tom Gamso, “Good Bye Cape Coral” and “Mob Rule” which appeared in the June 27, 2009 issue of The Breeze. My stomach turned, with the out and out thievery I viewed being committed on these two citizens by the property-taking authority that exists within our bureaucracy.
Whatever the problem, as explained by Mr. Barron and Mr. Gamso, the government is hot and heavy on the stealing of their lands, and quite possibly their way of life.
A damnable abomination, without a doubt, and something our entire population should be angrily upset with. Something here stinks to high heaven, if we truly believe we are living in the home of the free and the land of the brave.
If such taxing policies are to be left standing, without opposition, the storming of the Bastile is at hand, and a re-construction of the guillotine given some serious consideration, while we attempt to “Keep Atlas from Shrugging” and praying for the continued existence of our dear old U.S.A.
