Drug testing selective and unfair
To the editor:
This is not an endorsement for the use of steroids or any mind altering drugs. As a matter of fact, the penalties for artificially enhancing ones performance on promoting, what has been characterized as “pleasure” is dangerous, disgusting, it should be illegal. The utilization of these drugs could be considered a private matter, but only if one is homebound and not involved in athletics or decision making… especially decision making involving other people. And here is the point of this letter, the reason why drug testing of only athletes is unfair is not because it’s wrong, it’s because it singles out one segment of society and ignores others, especially politicians, members of Congress, the current administration, and even the Supreme Court. Here are people empowered to make life-and-death decisions involving every American and indeed the survival of the world. We should have the assurance that every person living on taxpayer monies is acting with a clear head, not using mind altering drugs, and fully aware of their actions at all times. Let’s be fair, every politician in public office should be drug tested regularly. The recent “New York Flyover” makes this point, no clear thinking person or people would have done this.
