High taxes driving people out
To the editor:
This city is a microcosm of national government. The day to pay the piper is upon us and still they don’t listen. The founding fathers left England for being over taxed. Well I’m leaving here (as soon as it is somewhat doable) for the same reason. I’m sure I can find somewhere more reasonable.
My frustration is in the fact that I am certain apathy will rule here and it will be business as usual for the council.
And as you mention questioning the value of broadcasting the council meetings…….. gee, I wonder why.
Regressive tax strategy ….. what a joke!
How about cut the fat; we as citizens have to do it in this economy. As Ms. Rosko says you don’t trim the roots of your tree first you’ll kill it, you trim the top and it grows stronger and looks better. We are top heavy period end of sentence. But not our city council who is there to work for us.
I’m tired of hearing them say in panic and indignation to each other I don’t want to be the one to tell an employee they don’t have a job, then are you there only to spend money when times are good and take the glory? Now they might well ask me do I want to do it, no I don’t but I didn’t run for council either.
So what do they do if we don’t like their tax-and-spend continuum, threaten us with ISO ratings dropping, ruination and even “deaths on our collective conscience.”
I would suggest that all the letters to the editor and watchdogs of the city unite and find one place to gather and find a way to wake the citizenry, we pay for a nice fancy place for the C to meet and broadcast their gloom and doom and get heard, some also have special interest backing them, I’d bet …… tough to compete.
Good luck,
Harry Campbell
