Council meetings have become a weekly soap opera
To the editor:
Monday night’s Council Meeting was another episode of “As the Stomach Turns.” Council rules allow for citizens input but then there are those on Council who take this opportunity to trash those that do speak!
Mr. Day’s stated that someone is or has been taking pictures of his family! If he indeed feels that someone is or has been taking pictures of his family he should have the police investigate it and take any action deemed necessary to protect his family. Instead he bemoans about it at a Council Meeting, ad nauseum! Why?
He went on a tirade about shutting down citizens input. His rant about all the police in the room that could throw people out of the meeting at the request of a councilman! He ranted about not televising Council meetings to the point I thought he was about to flip his wig! He ranted and raved about “Shedgate” the illegal shed in his side yard for which he had no permit and no variance! Because he has special privileges he gets to keep it there! But residents should not try this as they are not special in the eyes of city government. Sheds pursuant to Ordinance must be behind the rear line of the house!
Mr. Day feels it is OK to go on a fulminate against residents for over one half hour and make all sorts of false statements.
Conversely, how dare a resident call anyone of them up on the errors of their ways or attempt to point them in a different direction!
Councilwoman Bertolini lamented of getting emails, referencing her family. She also would be well advised to alert the police and allow them to investigate the issue and take whatever action is deemed necessary.
The best action of the night came after citizens input and was out in the hall when Mr. Stewart with fire in his eyes went after a resident and is said to have made threatening statements to the resident, which were apparently witnessed by other people in close proximity. Police were called and interviews conducted. Mr. Stewart was definitely the aggressor, as observed by many. That individual was then barred from the rest of the meeting! He was subsequently interviewed by a Wink TV reporter.
