Dr. Sowell an honorable, accurate conservative writer
To the editor:
After reading the lengthy letter in his denigration of a fine conservative, Dr. Thomas Sowell in the March 7, 2009 issue of The Breeze, allow me to puncture this writer’s balloon.
Where has this fellow developed such a deep-seated hatred for an honorable person such as Dr. Thomas Sowell?
I’m much surprised that the paper’s editor allowed so much of his diatribe to get into print at the expense of one really fine gentleman.
From his writing it is evident that this fellow is numbered among the liberal element bleeding heart individuals who have and are causing our nation to go down the drain – in such a fanciful fashion
To call Dr. Sowell “a fool” and equate the man to a blind man as a driving instructor for the D.M.V. leaves little to supposition. Since you seem to enjoy playing games with facts and numbers in your denigration of Dr.Sowell – let’s take a look.
President Roosevelt’s first term in office consisted of 1933, 1934, 1935, and 1936. By your own numbers unemployment in our country was: 25 percent in 1933; 21.7 percent in 1934; 20.1 percent in 1935 and 16.9 percent in 1936.
If your numbers are correct, how can you fault Dr.Sowell when he truthfully claimed that in Roosevelt’s first term in office, unemployment never fell below 15 percent for even one month? By your own numbers he was no liar, why did you suggest that he was one ? Did your hatred of he man cause you to miscalculate?
Whatever – the bottom line here is that Dr. Sowell is a conservative, the writer is a liberal, and sad to say, “Never the twain shall meet.” God save our country.
