Don’t blame Tallahassee
To the editor:
Having been in politics and civic affairs since the Eisenhower administration, it always perplexes me as to why the school board is perennially in trouble, be it financially or PR fiascos. It being, I dare say, with putting in an ex-high school principal in charge of a billion dollar business but there are five supposedly intelligent citizens elected to the school board to guide and protect the taxpayers’ interest while constantly raising educational standards, some of which have happened.
Recently, Dr. Jane Kuckle wrote an OP-ED piece which reveals the level of incompetence on the board. It is a masterpiece of misdirection and amateur propaganda. Supposedly she now opposes cutting teacher’s salaries while understanding that the three other Browder acolytes on the board will pass the cuts. She then lists potential revenue sources that Tallahassee might pass to ease the crisis. Again, this is a cheap shot because we know that these will never happen. They are the shop-worn, pie-in-the sky writers bring out when one wants to blame Tallahassee for the problem du-jour.
Please note that there are no realistic solutions offered such as reducing spending in our billion dollar budget or acknowledging that transferring construction funds is the only emergency revenue source available. Chicken Little Kuckle has put her “the sky is falling” call in print and deserves the on-line comments it is receiving.
