Politeness, please
To the editor:
I watch every council meeting and I am embarrassed for our city. The mayor states that the council is respectful to the citizens but watching the meetings does not demonstrate that to the public.
To allow Ms.Tate to suggest that one of the most concerned and vocal citizens, John Sullivan, should move from Cape Coral is totally inappropriate! Mrs. Rosko is also subjected to very rude comments from Mr. Day. I have never met Mr.Sullivan or Ms. Rosko but I cringe when I hear the comments coming from the dais.
These actions give our city a black eye. A person considering moving or doing business in our city would think twice after witnessing our elected (or appointed) officials speaking in public, on a televised and recorded forum, in such a condescending, sarcastic and rude manner to the citizens that dare to ask questions or make comments. What can be done to eliminate this totally inappropriate behavior? Whether or not one agrees with a citizen’s view, respect must be given. The way one treats another is a reflection of character and our representatives should not be degrading the citizens during these council meetings!
