City needs to address golf course turned dog park

To the editor:

Who cares about the old Cape golf course? Do you? Do you like people staring into your back yard, into your house? Having dogs relieve themselves in your yard? Yeah, they might clean it but it does not mean that they are not a carrier for Parvo, whether they had their shots or not. They still can have it. In addition, they won’t show signs of being sick.

And, as taxpayers, we own our properties; that is not right. For one, it’s an invasion of privacy and its trespassing on private property.

How can you feel good about someone who lets their dog mess in your yard? The city has only the right of way, they do not pay your taxes on it. The city does not own the right of way, they have rights only. So what is the city of Cape Coral going to do about the golf course, and about people walking their dogs? Is it even on their agenda? Do not forget our privacy; at least golfers keep their eye on the game.

The question is, can we stop people from staring into our back yard from the golf course and make it clear that it is private property, so homeowners can have privacy? And dog walkers cannot let their dogs mess on another person’s property.
