Yes, Lee County there is a Santa Claus
To the editor:
During the trying times of the economy and budget cuts to assist the elderly and disabled by the State of Florida, community organizations have been helping the Down Syndrome supported living organization, a not-for-profit corporation, through charitable donations, grants and other funding. The Price Foundation, $5,000 for operations; The Clairborne and Ned Foulds Foundation, $4,200 for home improvements; Cape Coral Community Foundation, $3,719.51 for vehicle maintenance and repair and Special Needs, The Cape Coral Kiwanis Club, this summer, $2,500 for food, gas and utilities. The Kiwanis are awarding another $2,500 to assist in operations. The Knights of Columbus, St. Andrew of Cape Coral, $1,000 for operations; The First Baptist Church of Cape Coral, $750 for operations; The German American Social Club, $500 for operations; Diplomat Weslylean Church, $325, for operations; The Board of Directors by loan or donation, $12,250 and the city of Cape Coral awarded a CDBG Grant of $17,000 to help fund a full audit and assist with overall operations of the group home, “St. James Place.” That home has been operating since May 1995 and provides services to developmentally disabled men all of whom work part time in the community. This has been great community support.
