Abortion not an issue for Obama White House
To the editor:
Well, we shouldn’t have been surprised by Dave Huck’s letter of Nov. 29, “Obama choices…” After all, Dave is a charter member of our local “dubious dozen,” which never gets it right.
Oh, I can appreciate any man’s opinion – even if it isn’t his own. If a “vested interest” tells you something, it bears checking out.
First, an invited abortion is not prescribed in the Mosaic Law, although an uninvited one is considered a minor misdemeanor. Did you ever wonder why secular law grants personal rights only to those born alive? Beyond “convenience,” there are many valid reason for seeking an abortion. Common sense should tell us that abortion should be legal, and with proper addressing of the problem, rare.
I seem to believe that Dave realizes that he is “preaching to the choir,” but he has to try anyway.
Incidentally, polls show that some two-thirds of Catholics and minorities voted for Obama, and quite correctly. (Abortion was not a raised issue in this election – again, quite correctly.)
