Slim to none?

To the editor:

Poor ole Johnny McCain; he couldn’t even hire anyone to speak at his convention. Shame, that. And unless he has more energy than I do, he wouldn’t be up to the task of the toughest job in the world (Reagan comes to mind). (Being a longtime POW has to take something out; even “normal” service does.)

Most people out there have no clue about “fighter pilot mentality.” We who do know that they are loners who don’t speak to the rank and file, thus they have no inkling as to what most of us need and think. So much for “experience.” This in no way denigrates their vital role in national defense.

As for Sara Palin, McCain knows that his worst quantifiable demographic is with women voters; therefore he put one on the ticket. And since Alaska has not voted right in its 50-year history, it is hard to believe that McCain would worry about carrying the state. He could just as well have picked the mayor of Moscow, for political benefit. I can’t imagine Ms. Palin being able to push legislation through the Senate, as will be sorely required in the days ahead.

Fair speaker that she is, she is still confused on the issues. Palin is certainly no Clinton; although nobody is!

Patriotism? We are all patriots; mostly Democrats, as history will attest.

The Republicans keep saying that they want “less government,” while what they really mean is “no government.” The rugged individuals out there want to continue to rough-shod the rest of us (with no interference). I say government has a place, and is necessary to prevent the foregoing.

To repeat, history is replete with examples of men with little relevant experience who nevertheless turned in exemplary jobs, because they had great leadership and common sense.

Additionally, have we all had enough of Republican prosperity? If you “status-quo-ers” out there see no problem, then McCain is your man!

In my opinion, the Republicans have two chances; slim and none!
