‘Goodness-to-go’ makes giving easy

By Staff | Sep 6, 2018

A new initiative that puts a local spin on the Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive makes giving easy – and right when our community needs it most.

“Goodness-To-Go” is collecting non-perishable food, toiletries, baby supplies, gift cards and monetary donations to help those in need.

The old “Save Our Summer: Feed the Cape” fundraiser has been replaced with a new SOS campaign, thanks to the newly formed Sustainable Outreach Society.

The thought process behind the new concept?

Giving those who would like to donate an opportunity to do so at their own convenience without the need to buy a ticket, dress up, show up and then spend more money on drinks and raffles.

All givers need to do is register online at sosgoodnesstogo.com and a yellow-shirted volunteer will show up to pick up their contribution on “Goodness-To-Go Day,” which is set for next Thursday.

It’s an interesting concept – and it’s working.

Initiative leader and facilitator Chris Spiro told The Breeze this week that they have raised $27,000 thus far and have 100 or so participants in the queue promising to have donations ready for pickup on Sept. 13.

The need here in the Cape right now is great, he emphasized, adding even “small donations” of canned goods, or a $5 gift card or check can help replenish bare shelves at the Cape Coral Caring Center.

We agree the need is there.

We also agree “Goodness-To-Go” is an easy way to make a difference.

Hopefully a big difference for our neighbors in need.

If you have an ability to give, please consider taking part by signing up.

Or, if you prefer to drop off a donation, you’re welcome to bring it here to The Breeze office at 2510 Del Prado Blvd. as we have signed up to be a pickup point.

Giving doesn’t get much easier than this.
