Joyce Glenice Bedell Comingore
Joyce Glenice Bedell Comingore was born on December 21, 1932, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and peacefully passed, August 19, 2024, in Cape Coral, Florida.
Joyce was the cherished older sister to six brothers, her nurturing spirit evident from an early age. In school, Joyce found a passion and skill for journalism. She continued honing her skills attending Purdue University.
In October 1951, she married Tom Comingore. They relocated to Orange, Texas, welcoming their son Rick. They returned to W. Lafayette where the three girls were born. In the mid-1960s, the family of six left Indiana, moving to Centerville, Ohio, remaining until all four children graduated from high school. Soon after, they headed to Florida. By 1980, they had settled in Cape Coral.
Joyce’s true calling was her commitment to community service, from the Junior League of Voters, serving as PTA president, scout leadership, and to spearheading church bazaars. Her legacy in Florida is marked by presidency of the Hibiscus Society. Additionally, she had numerous years of volunteering with the Master Gardener program. Joyce received their Award of Excellence in Horticulture Writing, and played a pivotal role establishing the Community Garden of Trafalgar Middle School.
As an active member of the Garden Club of Cape Coral, she continued with her floral arranging, winning numerous ribbons and awards. Again, utilizing journalism passion to write bi-weekly articles for the Cape Coral Breeze.
Joyce was a loving mother to Rick Comingore, Betty Jo Simpson, Carol & Don Mayne, Rev. Lisa Kay Comingore-Smith & Steven Smith. Adoring Grandma to Tom Comingore, Kelly Comingore, Brent Simpson, Brandon & Missy Simpson, Shelby Myers, Kyle Mayne, and David Smith. Cherished Great-grandma to Alex, Zane, Zeke, Remi, Samantha Joyce, and Abrie. Joyce leaves behind her brothers Stuart, Roger & Lydia, Bruce & Mary Ann, Bryan & Marion, and Steve Bedell, remembering her late brother, Randy.
