Anthony “Tony” Thomas Serrago

Anthony “Tony” Thomas Serrago, 65, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 2006, formerly of Long Island, NY, passed away Friday, September 9, 2022 in Cape Coral. He was born July 19, 1957 in Queens, NY and graduated high school from West Islip Senior High school. He went on to graduate from Suffolk Community College with an Associates Degree in business. He was a successful salesman in New York before retiring and then later opening his restaurant business in Cape Coral, FL.

Anthony, who was known by many as “Tony” was baptized in the Catholic faith. Tony is known for his charismatic, energetic, kind, giving, driven, lovable nature. Tony was the owner and operator of Anthony’s on the Blvd, serving his community with pride for more than 15 years. The restaurant supported many nonprofits over the years and became a staple in the Cape Coral community receiving numerous accolades, in large part due to Tony’s presence, greeting every customer with a smile and taking the time to get to know them. Tony was an avid sports fan and loyal Yankees fan. He enjoyed recreational gambling, including poker and a good trip to the casino with friends and family. He also enjoyed food, ice cream, chocolate, boating, cruising in his convertible and staying up to date on world news.

He is survived by the love of his life, Denise Whitaker of Cape Coral; loving mother, Marie Serrago of Cape Coral; loving children, Ashley Serrago (fiancé, Justin Boynton) of Albany, NY, and Erika Serrago of Massapequa Park, NY; five siblings, Maria Decristan (Matt) of Tafton, PA, Gary Serrago of Cape Coral, Michael Serrago of Cape Coral, “Guy” Guetano Serrago (Darlene) of North Port, FL, and Jimmy Serrago of Cape Coral; many nieces and nephews; Spike, the dog; as well as Denise’s children, Tiffany Whitaker (fiancé, Shane Tucker) of Cape Coral, Casie Whitaker (Ricky Gomes) of St. James City, FL, Kelsea Whitaker (Alexandra) of Crestview, FL, Rikki Whitaker of Cape Coral, Patrick Whitaker of Pensacola, FL; and grandson, Jasper Miller of Cape Coral.

Anthony was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Thomas Serrago; as well as his brother, Carmine Serrago.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Living Faith Church with Pastor Pat Thurmer officiating. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 4:00 PM – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, also at Living Faith Church.

Committal Services will be held following the Funeral Service at Coral Ridge Cemetery, 1630 SW Pine Island Road, Cape Coral, FL 33991.

Memorial Contributions in memory of Anthony Thomas Serrago are suggested to Toys for Tots, SWFL Military Museum, Korean War Veterans Association, Hearts & Homes for Veterans, Injured Warriors Fund of Florida, Save the TaTas Foundation, American Cancer Society, Cape Coral Caring Center, MS Society, and Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
