Irene Hunsicker
Irene Hunsicker, 90, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 9, 2015.
On November 17, 1925, Irene was born in Dalton, Georgia to the late Claude Harrison and Lillie Harrison Jones. A Civil Service retiree from Robins Air Force Base, Irene taught Sunday School at Second Baptist Church for several years before becoming a longtime member of Oakland Baptist Church. She loved her church family and the Lord, music, singing, and songwriting. Irene will be remembered by all who knew her as a faithful wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, sweet sister, and a devout Christian. She will be terribly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her first husband, James Phifer, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Jason Phifer; her parents; and her siblings, C.L. Harrison, James Jones, Glenda Tapp, Charles Jones, and C.M. Harrison.
She leaves her never-ending love and memories with her loving husband, Lamar H. Hunsicker of Warner Robins; children, Mary Kitty Garnto (Lonnie) of Warner Robins, James Phifer (Sylvia) of Ringgold, and Penny Langston (Jim) of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Suzanne Pavitt, Amy Branch, Jaimee James, Bobby Garnto, Barbara Faulkner, Matthew Pardo, and Tevita Jones; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; siblings, Marvin Jones of Calhoun, Lamar Jones and Ellen Jackson, both of Hartwell, Georgia, Lula Mae Jones of Santa Rosa, California, and sister-in-law, Maxine Jones of Mayfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Oakland Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Slade and Rev. Mike Winfree officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Following the service, Mrs. Hunsicker will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
