Ann Hayduk Rhodes
Ann Hayduk Rhodes, 91, of Cape Coral died December 7, 2014 at Hope Hospice after a short illness. She was born in Nizna Olsava, Slovakia September 14, 1923 to Michal and Maria (Tokarsky) Hayduk. Her father went ahead of his family to earn enough money to bring them to the United States. At the age of nine Ann and her mother immigrated to Dunmore, PA. In 1936 she and her family moved to Lowell, NY where her parents operated a dairy farm for many years. Ann graduated as the valedictorian of her class at Westmoreland High School in 1940. She later attended business school in Syracuse, NY. Ann worked for the Department of Defense her entire career. She retired in 1983. She started her career at Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, NY and then later worked in Germany for six years. She also worked at the Pentagon for twenty two years. In 1984 Ann married Albert Rhodes in Arlington, VA. They moved to Cape Coral that same year where they enjoyed nineteen years of marriage until his death in August 2003. Ann loved to travel throughout her entire life venturing to such places as Europe, Africa, Iceland and the Middle East. She was a member of the Epiphany Episcopal Church where she proudly sang in the choir for many years. She was a life member of NARFE Chapter 1002, National Active and Retired Federal Employees. Ann leaves a sister Sylvia Jubis of Whitesboro, NY, two brothers Michael ( Helen) Hayduk and Joseph (Ann) Hayduk all of Rome, NY, one step-daughter Susan Rhodes of Winchester, VA, five nieces and nephews, eight great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother John Hayduk in 2008 and her step-son John Michael Rhodes. Funeral Services followed by a luncheon will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday December 17, 2014 at the Epiphany Church, 2507 Del Prado Blvd. Cape Coral, Fl 33904.
