Virginia Lucille Schmidt Evans
Virginia Lucille Schmidt Evans, 98,of Cape Coral died Wednesday September 24, 2014 at Hope Hospice. She was born 8/11/1916 in Indianpolis IN the youngest of 12 children to Leonard and Ascencia Schmidt. Virginia graduated from St Vincent Hospital in 1938 with a nursing degree. Beginning in 1944, Virginia served with the Army Nurses Corp in France , England, and Germany during WW II until she was discharged in 1946 with the rank of Second Lieutenant. She has resided in Cape Coral since 1995 after moving from Baltimore MD. Virginia was a member the NARFE Chapter 1002 & VFW Post 8463, she was a long time member of St Andrew Roman Catholic Church. Virginia was predeceased by her husband, Loren Paul Evans in 1977 and by only son, Michael in 2001. Survivors include her grandson Steven Evans and his wife Kimberly of Baltimore MD, and her great granddaughter, Kathryn Evans, of whom she was so proud and loved dearly. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday November 10, 2014 at 10 am at St Andrew Catholic Church. Interment will be at Gardens of Faith, Rosedale,MD, beside her husband, with full military honors.
