Louis F. DeForge Jr.
Louis F. DeForge Jr., 79, of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., formerly of Cape Coral, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, following an extended illness. He was born Nov. 15, 1934, in Jersey City, N.J., to Louis F. DeForge Sr. and Mary DeForge. He was a United States Navy veteran where he served as a signalman during the Korean War on the USS Sigourney, a destroyer. He was a resident of Cape Coral for many years before moving to Jacksonville Beach where he was cared for by his son and daughter-in-law, Louis J. and Dawn DeForge. He was also a member of the Vine-yard Church of Cape Coral.
He was an avid New York Giants football fan.
Mr. DeForge leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Mary Ellen Cassidy of Fort Myers and Louis J. DeForge (Dawn) of Jacksonville Beach; three grandchildren and multitudes of nieces and nephews. From a family of 10 children, his sister survives him, Helen Scarpa.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia A. DeForge.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 27, at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with entombment to follow in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors conducted by the U.S. Navy. Friends will be received from11 a.m. until the time of the service.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers.
