Shirley D. Knox
Shirley D. Knox, 81, of Cape Coral died Thursday, March 24, 2011, at the Health Park Medical Center, Fort Myers. She was born Aug. 23, 1929, in Watertown, N.Y., a child of Clyde H. and Greta Pearl (Byers) Davis.
A resident of Cape Coral since 1989, she also maintained a home in Clayton, N.Y., and previously lived in Watertown. She was a 1947 graduate of Watertown High School and a graduate of Central City Business Institute in Syracuse, N.Y. She worked for the Watertown City School District, serving as the secretary to the assistant principal of WHS, retiring in 1988.
She attended the Faith Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral and was a member of Single’s Group; she loved playing cards and dominos. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
The wife of the late Roy S. Knox who died in April 2006, she is survived by her children, Cherie K. (Doug) Danforth of Clayton, N.Y., and Dr. Ronald J. (Sue) Knox of Watertown, N.Y.; her grandchildren, Heather Danforth Hill (Jonathan), Jaye Danforth (Kathy Hogan), Holly Danforth, Ryan Knox, Kristen Knox; great-granddaughter, Aubrey Hill; and her brothers, Robert (Jan) Davis of Arcadia, Fla., and John (Carol) Davis of Clayton, N.Y.
A funeral will be held privately by the family.
