Theodore “Ted” Schmidt
Theodore “Ted” Schmidt, 64 of North Fort Myers passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011. He was born on March 10, 1946, in American Falls, Idaho, to Erwin and Marge Schmidt. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the U.S. Marine Corp. He was awarded the U.S. Air Force Aerial Achievement Medal while serving as a civilian. He flew with the Flying Tigers and Fed-Ex from 1970 until his retirement in 2008. He is a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge, Loyal Order of the Moose, V.F.W., American Legion, Marine Corps League, AMVETS and the Eagles. He enjoyed fishing, boating, shooting, camping, reading books, traveling the world, cooking, his prized cars and aviation.
He is survived by his loving family, including his wife, Patricia Schmidt; children, Lonnie (Meredith) Schmidt, Michele (Shawn) Harrington and Dawn (Andy) Richard; grandchildren, Lila, Chase, Amber(Jerry), Kevin and Ryan; great-granddaughter, Addlin; mother, Marge (William) Strong; sister, Carol Miller; and his beloved dog, “Topper.”
He is preceded in death by his father, Erwin.
A Celebration of Life Service Service will be at noon on Sunday, March 6, at the Punta Gorda Elks Lodge, 25538 Shore Drive, Punta Gorda. Military honors will follow by the U.S. Marine Corp. Please visit www.coralridgefuneralhome.com to leave online thoughts and memories for his family.
