Frances J. Ryan
Frances J. Ryan, 88, passed away Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at Canterbury Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Fort Wayne. Born in Layton Corners, Mich., She worked on the farm and at Carroll High School with her husband, Joseph, for many years. She was a member of St. Vincent’s Catholic Church. She had a great talent for sewing, and baking Christmas cookies.
A favorite aunt to many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, she will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her brothers, Don Gilles of Michigan, Jim (Merissa) Gilles of Saginaw, Mich., and Jerry (Marilyn) Gilles of Florida; brother-in-law, Robert P. Schowe; and sister-in-law, Kathleen Gilles.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ryan; parents, Peter and Rose Gilles; sisters, Marlene Emendorfer, Genevieve McGillen, Eileen Adams and Eva Schowe; and brothers, Norbert Gilles and Eugene Gilles.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m., March 4, at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Road, Fort Wayne, Ind., with calling one hour prior. The family will also accept visitors at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, Thursday, March 3, from 4-7 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 6:30 p.m.
Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Ind.
