Emblem Tyner Collins

Emblem Tyner Collins, who was born Sept. 16, 1923, in Lumber City, Ga., the only daughter of Leo and Lollie Tyner, passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011.

She is survived by loving son, Craig; daughter-in-law, Rei; and granddaughter Alyson Collins Coin.

From the mid-1940s, she lived in Detroit and raised two lovely children, Craig and Christine (who passed away in 1995). She worked for many years at Wayne State University in Detroit in the legal department until her retirement at age 70. She was an active member of the Dearborn Fairlane Country Club for many years and enjoyed its many activities with family and friends. She also was a long-time member of Detroit City Women’s Club. After her retirement she became an avid world traveler and did a lot of cruises with her dear friends.

She relocated to Cape Coral in 2005 to be close with her son and daughter-in-law, and to escape the brutal winters of Michigan. She very much enjoyed meeting new friends and acquaintances while living in Florida. She lived her life to the fullest and was very devoted to her family and friends.

She joins her daughter, Christine, and mother and father in heaven. She’ll be truly missed by us all.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 17, at the Windsor of Cape Coral, 825 Santa Barbara Blvd., Cape Coral.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice.
