Walter F. Barutha
Walter F. Barutha, 79, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2010.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sandy; his sister, Mary Jane (Elroy) Nell; his niece, Carol (Tim) Candek; his nephew, Robert (Nancy) Nell; and many other family and friends.
He proudly served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He worked for WE Energy in Milwaukee, Wis., for 36 years. A resident of Florida for 22 years, he served with the Cape Coral Police Volunteer unit for 15 years.
He was active in the Boy Scouts of America for many years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Marine Corp League, Moose Lodge of Cape Coral and a lifetime member of the NRA. As a parishioner of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, he enjoyed volunteering in religious education programs.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 6, from 5-8 p.m. in the chapel of Coral Ridge Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 7, at 11 a.m., at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church.
Military honors will be conducted on Friday following the mass at the church.
